Gosforth Nature Reserve

On November 1st my good friend Sophie and I went to the Gosforth Nature Reserve. It was my first visit there but will definitely not be my last. I got all these photos! Hopefully next time the otters will make an appearance.

My Birthday Celebrations.

With each of us having our own blogs and me posting on mine 3 times a week, we seem to neglect this blog.

There has been lots going on lately! Always make sure to head over to My Blog to see what we've been up to. My recent post about our trip to Seaton Deleval Hall may be of interest to you, there's lots of photography!

Other than that I photographed a wedding at the Roxburghe Hotel in Kelso, it's been my birthday and most importantly we got our new puppy, Baker! Here are a few photos we took on a little walk through Holywell Dene on my 22nd with him.

Seabird Spotting at Cullercoats Bay.

Originally heading for Tynemouth, we decided to stop and visit Cullercoats Bay today as we've only ever driven through. We had a nice stroll along the beach and stopped by the 'cave' area to try get some photos but with dogs chasing away the gulls the only other wildlife around were the pigeons. So we walked further around and caught lots of different little guys!

I'm aware some are slightly out of focus, but these damn birds are so fast! Think it'll be worth another trip. It was nice to have some different scenery for a change.

Welcome To The Family 70-300mm!

My early birthday present is going down a treat! If I'm not snapping away with it, Jake is - we can't put it down!
Since I've upgraded from the D60 to the D5000 I've only ever used my 18-55mm lens, it's served me well thoughand I think I've gotten some brilliant photos with it. But after our trip to Kielder and a growing interest in birding started we knew a longer lens would be highly beneficial. Obviously when unemployed there's no way we were going to afford one, but seeing as my 22nd is coming up on the 12th and I'm shooting a wedding on the 6th, Dad very generously got me a Sigma 70-300mm Macro lens :)
Best. Gift. Ever.
I can't wait to use it at the wedding! On the online forums I've heard good things about this lens at weddings.

Anyways, here's what we've caught on camera between the 26th and 29th at St Marys.
We are complete beginners in the birding world and would greatly appreciate any help with identifications :)

A Cormorant? That we almost fell off the cliff in the awful weather to try and get a quick photo!

Curlew + Oystercatchers.

A Turnstone? Mid-jump!
A very lazy Guillemot? who, had we tried, would probably of let us pet him. He seemed not to be able to fly..:/

We also saw some Yellow-Browed Warbler and Redstart which were too fast for our unpracticed hands. I look forward to going out next week and seeing what else we might find. I'd love suggestions of new areas to visit too, we are common visiters to Holywell Dene, St Marys and occasionally Woodhorn, but live in Blyth.

Kielder Water and Forrest Park Part 2

So here goes my first post on here.

As Danielle said on the last post with her pictures from Kielder, here are some of the pictures that I snapped on our long weekend away. Not many of the birds and other wildlife that was around, but there are a few pictures of the scenery and the fog that we were met with on a early morning walk.

Hope you enjoy them.
